On October 22, 2004 The Times of India reported, "The city of Nawabs has been known for religious tolerance and serves as an example of communal harmony. The latest example of understanding and brotherhood among city residents comes in the wake of Ramzan, Navratra and Dussehra being observed in the same month. What impresses is regard for each other's sensitivities, irrespective of religious leanings. For instance, loudspeaker use in the early morning hours during 'sehri' in Ramzan is lesser and with lower volume in most areas in the city."
