On April 5, 2006 UCANews reported, "Christian theologians in Asia brought Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic religious experience into their reflections recently on how religions can serve society in this age of globalization. The Sixth Asian Theological Conference, held March 24-31 in Colombo, brought together 15 theologians from Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, South Korea, Sri Lanka and Taiwan. The Asian Theological Conference is an Asian affiliate of Ecumenical Association of Third World Theologians (EATWOT), which organized the event. The first Asian Theological Conference was held in Sri Lanka in 1979. Oblate Father Rohan Silva, Asian coordinator for EATWOT, told UCA News that the theologians at the recent conference reflected on globalization from an interreligious perspective as well as a Christian one. On March 29, Hindu, Buddhist and Islam scholars shared experiences and ideas with the Christian theologians."
