On February 23, 2005 the Indo-Asian News Service reported, "A peace rally from Pakistan to India will be organised from March 17 to 24, by a Canada-based Sikh group. The precession that will start from Nankana Sahib near Lahore and will culminate a week later at Aanan Pursan near Chandigarh, hopes to spread an atmosphere of friendship between the two traditionally hostile neighbours. Chief of Sikh International Peace Committee Gurcharan Singh, talking to VOA, said that all preparations are under way. Sikhs settled in the US, Canada, Britain and several European countries would participate in the rally, he said."
