Over the holiday weekend, MPAC contacted the Department of Justice Civil Rights Division to investigate two cases of vandalism which recently took place at Southern California mosques. On New Year's Day, a Quran was found desecrated and torn at the Islamic Education Center of Orange County - which is the second time within two weeks a Quran was found desecrated at the same mosque. Recently, the Islamic portion of an outdoor holiday Interfaith display in Mission Viejo was also vandalized. The vandal painted over a verse of the Quran and left a paper stating "No Islamic Lighthouses in the U.S.A."
