CAIR Gathering Raises Funds for Interfaith Work

On December 30, 2003 The Pakistan Link reported that The Council on American Islamic Relations raised over $100,000 at its first annual fundraising banquet for its Faith in Action theme. They were supported by the local interfaith effort (Abrahamic religions) and Asian groups, especially Japanese Americans and Pacific Islanders. Sacramento City Mayor Heather Fargo was the first speaker, and she highlighted Sacramento's diversity, calling Sacramento "a role model for the rest of the nation." Mayor of the City of Citrus Heights James Shelby also spoke, saying that "tolerance and acceptance of different religions and races is essential."
