The old Bermondsey Library will be the largest Tibetan Buddhist Centre in London, it was announced this week.

The ‘News’ reported at the start of the year that the Spa Road building, the first free library in London, was to be turned from council offices into a Buddhist centre.

The centre is expected to be open in June next year following extensive renovations, and will be run by monks and nuns of the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism, which since 1998 has had a place in Manor Baths, another historic building, in Walworth.
