Buddhism Thrives in Colorado Springs

On March 5, 2005 The Gazette reported, "with 360 million believers, Buddhism is one of the world’s great religions. It’s based on the premise that passion breeds pain, and the only way to find true bliss is to strip away the unproductive desires and cravings that plague our lives... Rocky Mountain Insight is part of a small but thriving community of Buddhists in Colorado Springs. There are at least four Buddhist organizations here, and probably more, encompassing several forms of Buddhism. Most hold weekly meditation sittings and classes, and some offer extended retreats. At Rocky Mountain Insight in Old Colorado City, Green teaches the Theravada Buddhism popular in Sri Lanka and southeast Asia. On a busy night, Green might lead as many as 30 students in meditation. Normally, around 15 come."
