On December 23, 2004 Press Trust of India reported, "Britain plans to recruit a civilian chaplain to the armed forces from the Hindu community with a starting salary of 26,002 pounds per annum. The successful applicant will have an office in, and be administratively attached to, a major military establishment reasonably accessible from their home, a British Defence Ministry official release said on Thursday. There will be flexibility for some home working, but also a requirement to travel to attend armed forces chaplaincy and other Ministry of Defence meetings, the release said."
