Militants suspected of being Islamic separatists bombed a busy market in southern Thailand on Tuesday, wounding more than three dozen civilians, a day after rebels killed eight soldiers.
The separatist rebellion has entered its fifth year, and Thailand is preparing to bring in a new government.
Also Tuesday, the cabinet renewed an emergency decree that gave security forces special powers of arrest in three southern provinces, said a government spokesman, Chaiya Yimwilai.
