The highlight of the event was the official announcement on behalf of Governor Bill Richardson that a dedicated highway in New Mexico will now be named, 'Yogi Bhajan Memorial Highway.' Secretary of Transportation, Rhonda Faught, attended the event to make the formal announcement. Other notables attending the celebration were United States Congressman Tom Udall, New Mexico Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ben Lujan, judges from the Supreme and Appellate Courts as well as Cabinet Secretaries and city and county officials. Former New Mexico Governor Bruce King and Secretary of State, Rebecca Vigil Giron were among other distinguished guests who were affectionately longtime friends of their beloved, 'Yogiji.'"
