Believers of different faiths gathered Sunday afternoon to pray for seven Baha’i leaders who have been in prison in Iran for nearly a year for their religious beliefs.

Local followers of the Christian, Muslim and Baha’i faiths assembled in the Quaker Meeting House at the corner of Piccadilly and Washington streets in Winchester to pray for the imprisoned leaders.

Sallie Grundman, a Baha’i follower for 35 years and a representative of the Valley Interfaith Council, lit seven candles at Sunday’s event, one for each of the imprisoned leaders.

“No one is untouched by some type of persecution or hate because of their religion,” she said.
