On a sunny Sunday afternoon in south Nashville, Marie McEntire, a Baptist, stooped to paint the corners of a closet in an almost-finished house.
In a nearby room, Peter Lutz, an Episcopalian, continued a painting job of his own. On the front porch, Michael Richardson, a Jew, touched up the trim on the door.
And all the while, the future owner of the house, Bayar Mohammed, a Muslim, made sure his caulking around the house was just right.
Nashvillians from four segments of three distinct faiths have been working together this month as part of the latest phase of Providence Park, a community developed by the Nashville Area Habitat for Humanity.
"There are so many challenges out there, so many negative things," said Lutz, a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike. "This is definitely a positive thing."
