BAPS Care International Assists Hurricane Katrina Victims

On September 6, 2005 a BAPS Care International Press Release reported, "In the wake of the hurricane devastation to hit the Gulf Coast region of the United States, BAPS Care International has launched immediate relief efforts in parts of the stricken zone. BAPS Care centers in the south have been mobilized in various states to help the victims of hurricane Katrina. Following are the immediate activities started by BAPS Care International: Serving hot food to evacuees and other affected people; providing Shelter in Jackson, MS and surrounding areas; providing emergency supplies and essentials to the hurricane victims; transporting water, groceries and other essential items from Houston, TX to affected areas. Apart from this our volunteers are also on site in Biloxi, Jackson, Gulfport areas providing immediate relief. On September 11, 2005 all BAPS Care International centers will be holding a special prayer ceremony to pray for the victims of this disaster. Furthermore, BAPS Care International will be conducting walkathons in its 21 centers across North America and will donate the funds raised by the 2005 walkathon for hurricane relief projects also."
