One of Canada's Baha'i leaders, speaking in London yesterday, called on members of the faith to stand strong behind other Baha'is facing persecution in Iran.
Enayat Rawhani, one of nine members of the Baha'i Community of Canada's national assembly, said the recent arrest and imprisonment of six Baha'i leaders in Iran is a tragedy.
"The message tonight is to see that the community is encouraged to go on, in spite of some of their sister communities that have landed with such an atrocious reaction from the clergy," he said, calling the imprisoned leaders a "beacon of light for a society which is decaying."
