Britain has banned a television advertisement for a Hindu religious pendant, which claimed to ward off evil spirits.

The direct response advertisement was run by the Leicester-based Middlesex Broadcasting Corporation on its MATV Punjabi channel in December.

The advertisement, which was broadcast in Hindu, featured a "Ganesh Rudraksh" pendant. It claimed to promote good health and protect the wearer from any obstacles.
