On January 31, 2005 the Daily Press reported, "neighbors of a proposed Hindu temple off Apple Valley and Ottawa roads are asking the Planning Commission to just say no. Local Hindus asked the Planning Commission for permission to build a 7,950-square-foot religious temple two weeks ago, but were denied. Commissioners cited the increase of traffic and the building's non-conforming architecture as reasons for denial. Nevertheless, advocates of the temple will appeal to the commission Wednesday night."
