On October 29, 2004 The Associated Press reported, "two Staten Island men were arrested and charged Friday with hate crimes for allegedly hitting a Muslim student at Stony Brook University while using anti-Muslim slurs. Suffolk police charged 19-year-old Michael Parker and 20-year-old Marat Bravin, both Staten Island residents, with criminal trespass in the second degree and aggravated harrassment in the second degree as a hate crime."
