A civil lawsuit alleging anti-Muslim bias by the Town of Walkersville is in settlement negotiations.
The parties have held three settlement conferences, and two town commissioners told The Frederick News-Post on Tuesday that they expect to discuss the matter with the town's lawyers in a closed session next week.

A closed session is scheduled during a Town Board meeting next Wednesday.

The attorney representing plaintiff David Moxley says only that negotiations are continuing.

Moxley alleges in his $16.5 million lawsuit that religious discrimination was behind the town's denial of a zoning exemption needed for a proposed mosque and recreation center. The denial quashed Moxley's plan to sell 224 acres to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
