On March 19, 2006 The Huntsville Times reported, "Along with traditional awards to outstanding leaders, volunteers, businesses and congregations, the 2006 Interfaith Mission Service awards will recognize the work of several congregations across denominations and faiths to help with the Katrina relief work. The Symphony of Faiths Award will recognize several congregations that took the initiative to coordinate a response to Hurricane Katrina's devastation. The 2006 banquet will be April 4 at... Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church... The Interfaith Mission Service was established in 1969 as a collaboration among congregations to pool resources to promote religious, racial and cultural harmony and to meet human needs in the area."
