On September 3, 2004 the Independent Press Association reported, "the American Muslim Taskforce on Civil Rights and Elections (AMT) held a media conference and town hall meeting regarding the upcoming presidential elections last Sunday in Long Island City. The organization’s goal: to 'inform, engage, and obtain oral and written input from Muslim community members,' said conference organizers.
