On November 14, 2001, The Sun-Sentinel reported, "Jewish leaders try to block Islamic speaker at West Palm civil rights meeting." The article noted that leaders of the American Jewish Committee tried to block the participation of a panelist from the Council on American-Islamic Relations at the Florida Commission on Human Relations' civil rights conference. The article noted, "Local Jewish leaders have repeatedly urged Jews to be wary of participating in interfaith talks with Muslims because, as William Gralnick [of the AJC] notes, 'You don't know who the bad guys are.'" Local Muslim leaders cite "Islamaphobia" and "say the flap illustrates just how sorely conversation between the two is needed."
