On July 19, 2005 The Christian Broadcasting Network reported, "One of the biggest challenges for commanders here at the Air Force Academy is to understand what is and what is not permissible. There seems to be a fine line between sharing faith and being accused of religious insensitivity. 'Our cadets want, and even our commanders say, well, just give me a checklist and tell me what to do,' [Lieutenant General Roger Brady, U.S. Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff] said. 'We're that way in the Air Force, particularly those of us who fly. Give me the checklist and I'll do it. Tell me how to do it - what I can do, what I can't do. But you know relationships are not that way. There's not a cookbook for command.' But Lieutenant Colonel Vickie Rast is working on that theoretical cookbook. She is one of the key officers put in charge to figure this out. It is not easy because commanders want to pray or share their faith with lower-ranked cadets."
