Jacksonville City Council President Jack Webb no longer believes the council should look into recent accusations about Parvez Ahmed, the Muslim professor serving on the city’s Human Rights Commission.
But even if the council did take up the issue, the city’s general counsel says Ahmed can’t be removed from the position now.
“Once he’s appointed, he’s appointed to the Human Rights Commission,” General Counsel Cindy Laquidara said Thursday. “And there is not a procedure for people to change their mind.”
