The Hindu festival of Dusshera will be celebrated in violence hit Kashmir by Kashmiri Hindus after 18 years.

Kashmiri Hindus enmasse migrated from Kashmir in the 1990s after violence broke out.

Dussehra is also known as Vijaya Dasami, because of the victory of Ram over Ravana. On this day Lord Rama killed the great demon and king of Lanka, Ravana.

A Kashmiri Hindu organization, Kashmiri Pandit Sangarash Samiti said the festival, celebrated as victory of good over evil, will be held in Srinagar after a gap of 18 years. "A religious procession would be taken out in the city in a peaceful atmosphere", Samiti President, Sanjay Tickoo, said.
