HistoryConstructed in 1893, Mount Moriah was the first black church in Spartanburg. It currently has a total membership of approximately 2,000. Dr. Benjamin D. Snoody has been the pastor since 1976. He is the ninth pastor since the founding of the church. Under the leadership of Dr. Snoody, a new church was built in 1977. In 1978, along with a fancy church and beautiful windows, the church had its first live radio broadcast, which it still holds every Sunday (WASC 1530). In 2001, Mount Moriah erected a brand new building, including a chapel and family life center.
DescriptionLarge, nicely designed church with two chapels, cafeteria, several offices, Bible study rooms and child care.
