The Lotus Meditation Center was constructed as an attachment to the
University of North Dakota’s international student center. It is a simple,
beautiful space that is well used by the greater Grand Forks community. The
Center offers a variety of programs in the Vipassana tradition of Buddhism
including regular beginner and advanced level meditation practice, a weekly
book group and a series of Dhamma talks and special programming.
In addition to its Buddhist programming, the Center provides space for other
religious groups throughout the week. The Baha’i community in Grand Forks
sponsors a twice monthly, Multifaith Devotional Gathering. The Muslim
Student Association also uses the space for their Friday prayers and special
events. The Center also provides teaching space for local T’ai Chi Ch’uan
and yoga practioners.
