Description

Lawrence Chinese Evangelical Church meets at Lawrence Free Methodist Church, which occupies a large building in southwest Lawrence. The building has a striking large white steeple and is made of red brick in the colonial style.

History

The Church opened in 1970, joining with the Kansas University Fellowship. Originally, meetings were at the Southern Baptist Student Center south of the Kansas University campus. Since 1992 they have been at the Free Methodist Church. Pastor Li came to the church in 1995 with the help of a Chinese pastor in Kansas City. Important in the organization's history has been help from other religious groups at KU.

Location and Directions

3001 Lawrence Avenue is accessible from 31st Street about half a mile west of U.S. 59 (Iowa Street) in southwest Lawrence.
