[flickr_set id="72157621942361234"] The members of the Islamic Center of Topeka began meeting in people's homes and in community centers. The current mosque opened in 1992 and the center was renovated in 1994, when a prayer room and entryway were added. The current center complex also contains a playground and a house, where the caretaker lives, next to the mosque. There are separate entrances for men and women and a reception area where visitors may meet members. The language spoken is English, except for the reading of the Qur'an in Arabic. Many members also speak in their native languages. All ages are represented. Visitors are welcome to pray with the congregation, or they are welcome to sit and watch.
