Major challenges included earlier beginnings at the Cleveland YMCA, then moving to a remodeled duplex on Detroit Avenue and the building of the new mosque (1989 - 1995) with only local funding; no outside funds were sought or acquired.

Families from the entire Cleveland area come for salat. Men, women, and children are all welcome. Special arrangement for women's prayer participation include an upstairs gallery. Otherwise, women and men are not separated. Muslims from many parts of the world are often present. The language most often heard is English, except during prayer which is in Arabic.
