Research conducted by affiliates at Kent State University led by Dr. David W. Odell-Scott and Dr. Surinder M. Bhardwaj in 1999.

Activities and Schedule

Regular weekly prayers take place Monday through Saturday at 5:00 A.M. and at 7:00 P.M. On Sunday, prayer is held at 5:00 A.M., 9:30 A.M. through 1:30 P.M. and at 7:00 P.M. Many festivals are celebrated, each attracting about 500 participants, mostly Punjabi. These festivals include: Vaisakhi, Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Birthday, Guru Nanak Dev Ji's Birthday, Guru Arjan Dev Ji's Martyr Day and Guru Teg Bahadur Ji's Martyr Day. The Center also has group meetings, cultural programs and picnics. For children they have symposia, Singing of Hymns and Punjabi (language) classes. A newsletter named Mansrover is also published.

History

The group originally met on West 25th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. The center was founded by the whole congregation and the group was faced with fund-raising and finding a spot for a permanent location.

Description

The center has a large sanctuary for prayer and a kitchen and eating area, as well as a shoe and coat room. The kitchen and the food prepared is free and open to all.
