Vigil in Memory of Srinivas Khuchibhotla

PURPOSE: The purpose of this vigil is to peacefully gather to honor the life and memory of Srinivas Kuchibhotla, who was killed on February 22, 2017 by Adam Purinton who believed that Mr. Kuchibhotla did not belong to our American community. INVITATION: We plead with all community organizations to join us to unite against forces that are tearing us apart. We would be very grateful if you would invite your friends, family, colleagues, and like-minded organizations in coming together as one. WE STAND TOGETHER: Many groups have come out to declare this a hate crime fueled by racism and xenophobia that continues to grip our beloved country. In this vigil, we also seek to denounce hate, violence, and hate fueled violence towards people based on the color of their skin, minority status or their cultural, social or political differences.

PARKING: There are a number of places to park in Boston including the public parking garage at Haymarket. If you get your ticket stamped at one of the local restaurants you will only have to pay $3. It is a 10min walk from most Boson garages to the Boston Common.

Exit above ground and walk up the hill towards the State House and the memorial. You will see people gathering and hear music. WHAT TO EXPECT: When you arrive, there will be music playing, please stand silently in solidarity. FRIDAY, MARCH 10, 2017 (5:30-6:30pm) 5:30pm Meet at Robert Gould Shaw Memorial with your battery operated tea light. Overflow will move into the Boston Common along the path from the State House down to the Park Street Station. 6:00pm Brief remarks from event organizers. 6:15pm Singing. 6:20pm Traditional chant. 6:25pm Moment of Silence for Srinivas Kuchibhotla and others victims of hate fueled violence. 6:30pm Silent disbandment, leave candles and flowers together.
