Showing of Acclaimed Racial Justice Documentary, “13th” in the Temple Isaiah Meeting Room The Temple Isaiah Racial Justice Team is proud to bring the 2016 documentary “13th: From Slave to Criminal in One Amendment” to Temple Isaiah. The title refers to the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. “Combining archival footage with testimony from activists and scholars, director Ava DuVernay's examination of the U.S. prison system looks at how the country's history of racial inequality drives the high rate of incarceration in America.” ”13th” has received near universal critical acclaim; it is rated 96% on the Rotten Tomatoes website and their “critics consensus” is “13th strikes at the heart of America's tangled racial history, offering observations as incendiary as they are calmly controlled.” We will have a chance for reactions and discussion after the showing.
