Date:

Location:

1465-1483 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA
Join a rally of educators from Boston-area universities to protest the repeal of DACA and demand that Congress act promptly and without compromise to safeguard our students. Faculty from Harvard, Tufts, MIT, Wellesley, Babson, and beyond will come together to say: our students are here to stay! There will be a brief speaking program featuring professors and students. After that, a group of faculty from several area colleges will engage in an act of non-violent civil disobedience, blocking Massachusetts Avenue until they are removed by Cambridge police. (There is no risk of arrest for rally participants who are not part of this group.) The repeal of DACA is an attack on university communities across the country, but educators are willing and prepared to fight back!

Pluralism Project Summary:

Professors from the greater Boston area staged a rally to protest the dissolution of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals immigration program by the Trump administration. The rally began in Harvard Yard. Several professors and one student spoke to the crowd, including Professor Ahmed Ragab and Professor Jonathan Walton from Harvard Divinity School. After the speeches, the professors stood in the middle of Massachusetts Ave with their arms linked together in an act of civil disobedience. The crowd followed the professors on to the avenue and cheered them on as they were arrested and removed by police.
