The Pluralism Project will be hosting a reception and bus tour of religious centers during the 2005 American Academy of Religion Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The reception will take place on Sunday, November 20, 2005 from 8:30 - 10:00pm at the  Loews Philadelphia Hotel, Commonwealth A Room. Diana Eck and the Pluralism Project will host this gathering of affiliate researchers, allies, advisors, friends and colleagues. Please join us for refreshments, networking, conversation and informal updates on research projects. Pluralism Project Affiliate Stuart Chandler is the curator for an exhibit entitled, “Eastern Religions Come to Western Pennsylvania.” This exhibit, being shown in the University Museum of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, focuses on the Buddhist, Hindu, Jain, and Sikh traditions, especially their practice in the Pittsburgh region. Included in the show are more than one hundred photographs, examples of Hindu, Jain, and Buddhist altars, and artwork by such artists as Arpana Caur, the Singh sisters, and Kaz Tanahashi. During the reception, Stuart will provide an on-going Powerpoint slide show of visuals from the exhibit and will give a brief presentation about the project. The Pluralism Project is arranging a bus tour to various religious centers in Philadelphia on Saturday, November 19 from 8:00am until 12:00pm. The tour will visit Bawa Muhaiyaddeen Mosque and the Chua Bo De Buddhist Temple. Please contact us at staff@pluralism.org to reserve a seat. A modest fee will be required to cover the bus rental expense. We have hired a Yellowbird School bus to take us on this journey. Please meet us on the 12th Street side of the Marriott Hotel for a prompt 8:30 am departure.
