A holiday remembering and connecting with family and friends who have passed on. OUTSIDE, a traditional community altar (with fire) will be built, where all are welcome to come and remember/celebrate loved ones lost. As always, the fire ceremony will include traditional live music and dancing by the kids of La Piñata (www.LaPiñata.org). The fire ceremony focuses on departed loved ones and dates back to Meso American or Pre-Colombian times and is celebrated throughout Latin America. INSIDE, there will be a marketplace of LOCAL & LATIN AMERICAN VENDORS offering you traditional and untraditional art, crafts, flowers, zines, terrariums, candles, pottery & more! Upstairs, grab some Mexican food and enjoy live dancing and music by Harvard University's Ballet folklorico de Aztlan and Mariachi Veritas de Harvard. THIS EVENT IS A FUNDRAISER for La Piñata - Jamaica Plain's Latin American Cultural Family Network who works to instill cultural pride and positive values in all youth and promote a sense of community in Boston, with the ultimate objective of understanding and appreciating the cultural diversity among us all. $7 Door (food not included).
