Date:
Sunday, April 7, 2019 (All day)
Location:
1762 Beacon St, Brookline, MA 02445, USA
Join the Jewish Muslim Solidarity Committee of Boston Workmen’s Circle and Kavod House Community to unpack how Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism underpin both interpersonal bias and structural oppression, and identify ways to combat both.
The workshop will address questions including:
> What are Islamophobia and anti-Muslim racism, and how do they operate, both nationally and locally?
> How do our individual and group identities impact our allyship?
> How does this oppression show up in our own communities and what can we do to address it?
> How can we support Muslim-led organizing against racism and Islamophobia?
Attendance is limited to 50, so please RSVP: bit.ly/MuslimSolidarityWorkshop
Suggested donation: $10-20, to support Muslim Justice League and program costs. Cost should not be a barrier to attendance.
Light snacks will be provided.
Accessibility: The workshop takes place on the second floor and requires ascending two flights of stairs; we apologize to anyone whom this excludes. BWC is currently in the process of designing and moving into a mobility-accessible home for future events.
The workshop is open to all. It was planned with a Jewish audience in mind but we welcome non-Jews to attend as well.
