BGLTQ Bible Study: For the Health and Wellbeing of Queer People of Faith

Date:

Thursday, March 28, 2019 (All day)

Location:

Grays Hall, Cambridge, MA 02138, USA
Harvard Divinity School students Ciarra Jones and Aric Flemming welcomed attendees to their event with some opening affirmations. First, they explained their reasons for organizing this three-part BGLTQ Bible Study group. The most prominent of these was their desire to offer a welcoming space and open ears to those navigating the tensions between their faith and sexual orientation. Though designed for BGLTQ individuals of faith, they also welcomed anyone who loved someone who was BGLTQ. The first of what would be three sessions began with introduction where attendees were asked to share what brought them to this space. Together, the group of eight read Matthew 16:13-28. Jones posed a question to the group to get the discussion moving: “Where do you see yourself in the text?” Overall, the hour and a half was a time for contemplation, introspection, and openness. Flemming closed out the event by leading the group in prayer and meditation, and encouraging everyone to bring a friend when they return the following week.   Thursdays, March 28, April 4, and April 11 // 7-8:30pm Office of BGLTQ Student Life, Grays Hall Ground Level
