Come to the Follen Church in Lexington to learn how three Muslim Americans have experienced the past several months of political discourse, including the anti-Muslim sentiments stirred up during the presidential campaign. Panelists: -Aishah Abdul-Musawwir, Library Media Specialist, Cambridge Public Schools, member of Masjid An-Nur, Roxbury -Tahir Chaudhry, Former President, Islamic Society of Boston/Wayland, member of Lexington Interfaith Clergy Association -Saadia Ahmad, Master’s Degree Student in Conflict Resolution, UMass-Boston, specializing in religious conflict and interfaith dialogue Moderator: -Maggie Herzig, Follen Church member and Founding Associate, Essential Partners (formerly Public Conversations Project). Some questions for our guests: -What do you most wish non-Muslims understood about who you are and who you are not? -Are some stereotypes particularly upsetting? -Have you experienced supportive “ally” responses from non-Muslims? -What do you not want from those who wish to be supportive? This event is free and open to the public. Followed two days later by a tour of the Islamic Center of Boston Community Center.
