History and Description

The Drikung Kagyu Dharma Circle is an assembly of four to five individuals from around the Madison area, who follow the teachings of Tibetan Buddhist Drikung Kagyu lineage. A current Abbot of this lineage, the Venerable Khenpo Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche, visited Madison in 1992 in order to give teachings, inspiring several members of the audience to take refuge and receive empowerments. Since that time, the Rinpoche has been visiting the Madison area every four years, to stay for three days and give teachings and empowerments.

Practices

Members of the Drikung Kagyu Dharma Circle meet on Tuesday evenings in the home of one of the members. Their practice includes opening prayers and one half hour of sitting meditation, after which they read and discuss dharma materials. When important teachers visit the area, the Dharma Circle holds meditation retreats of up to two or three days in duration. The group welcomes interested parties to contact them via email, or to visit the Drikung Kagyu website.
