Located in Shawnee Mission, KS, Congregation Beth Torah was founded in the late 1980s by several dozen people who met together for Erev Shabbat services. Within a month, on July 22, 1988, more than 100 people met together for Congregation Beth Torah’s first official worship service. In 1996, the congregation moved into its new center, one full of symbolism and meaning for those who attend. In addition to being a place of worship, Beth Torah also offers a library, school, classrooms, offices, and meeting rooms. The mission statement of Congregation Beth Torah is as follows: "Congregation Beth Torah is a modern, Reform Jewish congregation dedicated to creating an inclusive, caring community and providing opportunities for Lifelong Learning and meaningful worship. We strive to encourage and promote ethical Jewish Living, spiritual and personal growth, social justice and the continuity of the Jewish people."
