"Astha Bharati is an NGO aspiring to pursue the objectives of national integration and unity. We propose to become a forum for a free and frank dialogue in respect of various issues faced by the country. We also wish to strive through discussions, to correct historical and social distortions being promoted to stabilize narrow and partisan interests."
DescriptionAshta Bharati's main activity is the publication of a quarterly journal, Dialogue. The journal publishes primarily academic articles covering various topics such as civil society, politics, development and current issues. A full description and listing of recent articles and contributors is available on their website. Additionally, this organization also organizes seminars and conferences. The website lists two seminars held in 2001 about economic development problems in north-east India, and illegal migration from Bangladesh.
HistoryAshta Bharati was founded in May 1999 by a prominent group of academic and business leaders. The center is registered as a non-profit under Indian law.
