Puerto Rico Winter Institute

Located in San Juan, the Puerto Rico Winter Institute (PRWI) is a 10-day graduate seminar in partnership with the College of Humanities at University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras (UPR) led by UPR Professor Pedro Reina Perez.

Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute

The Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute (STRI), located in Panama, provides summer lab assistant opportunities for students. The Experiential Programs are coordinated by Harvard students and STRI Lab staff.

Student Funding

DRCLAS offers a variety of travel grants for summer research, conferences, and internships in Latin America as well as Student Group Grants for publications, workshops, conferences, and/or events related to Latin America.

The Central American Fellowship focuses on topics related to Central America and the Wilbur Marvin Fellowship is awarded to researchers working on issued related to medicine, public health, the environment, education, and strengthening philanthropy in Central America and Puerto Rico.
