Below please find a list of trade and affiliation organizations and think tanks that have additional resources related to operational efficiency.

American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials
AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments across American for all five transportation modes: air, highways, public transportation, rail, and water.

American Public Power Association
The American Public Power Association is a service organization for the nation's more than 2,000 community-owned electric utilities

American Public Transportation Association
An international organization that has been representing the transit industry for over 100 years.

American Public Works Association
An organization that serves professionals in all aspects of public works as well as the private sector personnel who supply them with products and services.

American Society for Public Administration
The largest professional association for public administration.

American Water Works Association
A nonprofit, scientific, and educational association dedicated to managing and treating water with approximately 50,000 members.

Association of Government Accountants
A member organization for government financial management professionals.

Council of State Community Development Agencies
An organization that advocates for the interests of states with federal policy makers and provides resources and education to its members.

County Executives of America
A non-partisan organization for chief elected county officials across the country.

Democratic Governors Association
An independent voluntary political organization supporting Democratic governors and candidates for governor.

Government Accountability Office’s Green Book
Standards for Internal Control in the Federal Government, known as the "Green Book," sets standards for an effective internal control system for federal agencies.

Government Accountability Office’s Yellow Book
The Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards, known as the "Yellow Book," sets standards for both the financial and performance audits of government agencies.

Government Finance Officers Association
An organization advocating for more than 19,000 public finance officials in the United States and Canada.

International City/County Management Association
Dedicated to creating excellence in local governance by fostering professional management of local government worldwide.

National Academy of Public Administration
An independent, non-partisan organization created to help public sector leaders.

National Association of Counties
An affiliate group for county officials to collectively advocate for policy beneficial to county government, share ideas and solutions, and build leadership skills.

National Association for County Community and Economic Development
Established as an affiliate to the National Association of Counties, NACCED provides information, training, and representation to counties receiving direct assistance from the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Community Planning and Development programs.

National Association of Regional Councils
An organization dedicated to promote regionalism and to advocate for regional cooperation for addressing community development and planning issues.

National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration

National Association of Secretaries of State
The nation’s oldest nonpartisan organization for public officials serves to foster cooperation between states to develop public policy.

National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers & Treasurers
An organization for officials tasked with financial and asset management for the public sector.

National Association of State Budget Officers
A professional organization for state budget and financial officers. NASBO advances state budget practices through research, policy analysis, education, and knowledge sharing among its members. 

National Association of State Chief Information Officers
A nonprofit association representing state chief information officers and information technology executives and managers from across the United States.

National Association of State Departments of Agriculture
Founded in 1916, this association helps shape agricultural policy by forging partnerships between state departments of agriculture, the federal government, and stakeholders.

National Association of State Procurement Officers
Made up of the directors of the central purchasing offices across the United States, NASPO is a non-profit association dedicated to advancing public procurement through leadership, excellence, and integrity.

Republican Governor's Association
An organization dedicated to electing and supporting Republican governors in the United States.

The United States Conference of Mayors
The official non-partisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more, represented by their chief elected officials, usually Mayors.

The Urban Institute
Dedicated to bringing data-analysis and evidence-based practices to public policy debates.
